print improvement

For this project, we were tasked with designing playing cards and were given free reign on its visuals and graphic/photography elements.

feedback

As this was a project that was done in my first year, I was not very familiar with layout design and did not know how to choose a typography that was proper to the aesthetic that I was trying to convey. Therefore, I was told that there was an excess of text on such a small card, and the typeface that was used could have been replaced with a sans-serif one instead of a handwritten one. Moreover, the doodles done on the images that were taken were said to be playful and on theme with the type of vibe I was going for originally.

modifications

As 2 years passed since this assignment, I have a better grasp of the design concepts that I was struggling with in the beginning. Additionally, my design style and overall taste has shifted to a more minimalist one. I found myself choosing a theme for this project that is more in line with my current likings, such as representing my love for cafe culture and more evidently, matcha!

web improvement

In the previous semester, we were tasked with designing our web portfolio. It had to feature a couple of our projects, mainly graphic design and web design– however, we were free to add any personal projects that we had potentionally done.

feedback

At the time, I did not have nearly enough projects to include in my portfolio. Consequently, it was extremely lacking in terms of quantity and therefore, did not consist of a good representation of my design abilities. I was told to obviously add more projects and personalize it more to my personal style– as a graphic designer's portfolio is supposed to reflect their own style and skills.

Unfortunately, due to the fact that I had my laptop changed, I no longer have access to my old files– as the account that I used previously is not the same as the one that I am currently using. Therefore, I do not have the code nor any image to show for the 'before'.

modifications

I completely changed the contents of my portfolio, adding a large number of personal & course projects, as well as using a more minimalist style while remaining descriptive of my process. I also precised the softwares that I used for each project, in addition to placing more images and text that provide a better overview of my works.

Just a note, I linked the file just like I did with the previous print improvement projects, however the image does not display itself properly or at all. My web portfolio is found when clicking on 'portfolio' on my Becoming page.
